Colmec constantly invests in new machine tools equipped with IT support and control systems that under the control of highly specialized personnel, guarantee the quality and precision necessary for perfection. All mechanical parts are produced internally including extrusion screws and the result of in-depth studies. All the processed pieces are coded and monitored, allowing them to be traced at any time. This is an indispensable tool and guarantees quality.

Research & Development – CTC Division
With a view to continuous research and development of technologically advanced solutions, Colmec has created an innovative Technology Center (CTC).
The CTC is housed in a 3,000-square-meter building. It is a modern and technologically advanced facility and is equipped with complete extrusion and mixing systems for rubber and silicone processing. In addition to being a place of internal application research, the CTC Technology Center aims to provide customers with technical support for the redesign, optimization and validation of production processes, through tests on complete and innovative extrusion lines, as well as the study and development of new production applications. Colmec provides, in addition to its know-how, a highly qualified technical staff that is able to support and assist the customer at all stages of the project. There can be no technological innovation without continuous research. Research means looking to the future and innovation, anticipating today the answers to the needs of the market of tomorrow.

The automation of the system is developed and designed internally by our automation office to ensure complete flexibility to the needs of the customer. The use of the most modern computer and design systems ensures the total automation of the system and allows continuous supervision of the same.
Colmec 4.0 systems
In the design and implementation of complete extrusion lines or complete mixing systems for rubber and silicone, Colmec is attentive to the important changes in the context of the sector. In particular the emergence of development models related to Industry 4.0.
In accordance with the Industry 4.0 model, Colmec extrusion and mixing lines are able to provide a quantity of complex data during their operation, such as communicating status parameters; temperature, pressure and other service information. This data is made available for interconnection to the customer’s supervision system, able to acquire and process it in real time for the most efficient management of processes, planning, logistics and orders.

In the past, many normal maintenance problems or simple system upgrades, always required the on-site presence of specialized technicians. With the application of the Industry 4.0 model, the same problems can be addressed using remote sharing and access systems, connecting the devices to intelligent data analysis systems. Each machine provided by Colmec is equipped with a teleservice module to provide immediate remote access, providing the customer with direct service through a dedicated VPN connection. This service allows us to interact with the machine with the customer and identify any anomalies in real time and resolve faults or outages directly from our facilities, minimizing downtime.
