CTM Mixers for Compounding and Straining

The CTM Conical Twin Mixer is a patented mixer consisting of a conical mixing chamber with two conical screws and two heads: one head is completely closed and is used during the mixing process and the other head containing a die is used during the extrusion process. CTM is able to mix a silicone compound consisting of silicone base, liquid or powder fillers, peroxide or platinum catalysts and color pigments. The entire mixing process can be completed in a single step, automatically keeping the batch temperature below the maximum allowed temperature of the recipe, without the operator’s intervention. All surfaces in contact with the silicone compound are cooled to avoid any increase in temperature in the batch during the mixing process.

The CTM is self-cleaning. The conical shape of the screws, combined with the shape of the inner surface of the mixing body, allows the batch to be completely unloaded. The conical body can be automatically separated from the screws by hydraulic opening.

  • CTM twin screw mixers for silicone
  • Batch volume from 1.5 to 800 liters
  • Productivity from 4 to 1600 liters/h
  • Suitable for the production of peroxide and platinum compounds
  • Complete systems for mixing, talcing and packaging
  • Complete systems for dosing powders, liquids and solids

In addition, it is possible to couple a gear pump between the CTM and the filter/preforming head to filter the finished compound after mixing.

When the mixing is complete, the gear pump is started and the compound is discharged through the filter plate and the die. At the end of the process, the compound is collected in continuous strips and is completed with the addition of polyethylene film and/or talc-based release agent.

In alternative to the Gear Pump could be used a single screw extruder. In this case the straining time is longer but the cleaning is easier.
